Grants

Each year Altrusa International of Centre County solicits applications for grants from local human service agencies. Two or three applications are accepted, and grants are made.


Recent grants have been made to the Sight-Loss Support Group, The AIDS Project, Family Health Services, House of Care, Centre County Youth Service Bureau, Mid-State Literacy Council, Keystone Legal Services, ClearWater Conservancy and the Women's Resource Center.


Grant Application Guidelines

Altrusa of Centre County solicits grant requests from community organizations in accordance with the following guidelines:


1. Grants are made to projects and programs which benefit the

people and communities of Centre County, PA.


2. Grants are awarded in support of the following areas of community service:

           *Literacy                        *Women's Issues

           *Children and Youth      *Environment


3. Priority is given to small, non-profit organizations or small projects within larger organizations that are difficult to fund through other resources.


4. Grants are normally made in the range of $150 to $2,000, and

should be expended in one program year.


5. Applications must be postmarked by May 16. 


6. Grants are made only to nonprofit charitable organizations or educational agencies (or affiliates) which are qualified as exempt from federal income tax under section 501 (c)(3).  Documentation of this status is required from all applicants.


7. Grants are not made to religious organizations for sectarian purposes.


8.  Grants are normally not made to general fund drives.


9.  Grant recipients are required to generate local publicity when the grant is received, making the public aware of the support of Altrusa International, Inc. of Centre County.
